Tungsten carbide, a mixture of carbon andtungsten, is an organic compound. The molecular formula of tungsten carbide is WC, and its molecular weight is 195.85.
Particle Size: -325mesh
About Tungsten Carbide WC Powder:
is an organic compound of tungsten with carbon. Tungsten Carbid Molecular Weight
Tungsten Carbide color:
Although the most basic form, tungsten carbide is a grey powder. It can however be formed into shapes using a process known as sintering.
Young’s modulus, which measures 530-700 GPa (77,000-102,000 ksi), is approximately twice that of steel. It is also stiffer than steel. Its hardness is almost the same as that of corundum, -Al2O3. Only diamond powder and cubic boron Nitride can be used to polish and finish.

a hexagonal crystal has metallic luster, and hardness that is similar to diamonds. It conducts electricity well. Tungsten carbide can’t be dissolve in water or hydrochloric, nor in sulfuric, but is easily soluble when mixed with nitric and hydrofluoric acids. Tungsten carbide in its pure form is very fragile. However, if there are small amounts of cobalt, titanium and other metals, it can be made less brittle. Tungsten carbide can be used to cut steel. To increase its anti-knock capability, it is sometimes combined with titanium carbide (or tantalum) or their mix. Tungsten carbide has a chemical stability. Tungsten powder can be used for cemented carbide production.

How does Tungsten Carbide W Powder manufactured?|
Utilizing metal tungsten or carbon as raw material, tungsten powder of an average size of 3 to 5-m and carbon noir of the same quantity are dried-mixed with a ballmill, then press-molded and placed into graphite plates. Or, it can also be heated to 14001700 using an induction furnace. Preferably 15501650. W2C is produced in the hydrogen stream and reacts at high temperatures to create WC. To make tungsten hexacarbonyl, first it is heated to 650 to 1000°C in the CO environment to get tungsten dust, then to react with carbon monoxide to create WC at 1150°C. W2C is possible at higher temperatures than these.
The chemical reaction formula
2W+C = W2C
W + C = WC
Hydrogenated tungsten trioxide (WO3) is then reduced to produce tungsten dust. The average size of tungsten particles is 35m. Next, press-form the mixture of tungsten and carbon black under pressure of approximately 1t/cm2. You will need to heat the block of pressurized material in a graphite pan (or crucible) at about 14001700, or more preferably 15501650 in hydrogen stream. This can be done using pure hydrogen and a low dew point (using a graphite resistance furnace) or induction electric furnace. Carburizing will give you WC. Since W2C can be generated from the beginning of the process, the reaction begins around the tungsten particle. Because the reaction temperature is very low, the unreacted and intermediate W2C will remain. The reaction must then be heated to the high temperatures mentioned above. The particle size of rawtungsten should determine the temperature limit. Fine particles having an average size of 150 m will react at temperatures between 1550°C and 1650°C.
The chemical reaction formula
WO3 + 3H2 → W + 3H2O
2WO3 + 3C → 2W + 3CO2
2W+C = W2C
W + C = WC
Applications of Tungsten Carbide W Powder:
Tungsten caride is used extensively in the manufacture of high-speed cutting tools and furnace structural materials. This is used in the manufacture of cutting tools, wear resistant parts, meltingcrucibles for metallics like cobalt, copper and bismuth and wear-resistant semiconductor film.
Tungsten carbide is used for super-hard material as well as wear-resistant materials.
Tungsten carbide can be combined with many other carbides to create a strong solution. WC-TiC-Co has been used extensively to create cemented carbide tools.
Tungsten carbide can also be used to modify NbC–C and TaC–C ternary-system carbides. It can decrease the sintering temperature while maintaining excellent performance. It is also used in aerospace.
Tungsten carbide or (WC) can also be made by using tungsten hydride (WO3), graphite, and an reducing atmosphere at high temperatures of 14001600. You can make dense ceramic products by either hot pressing or hot isostatically pressing sintering.
Tungsten caride (WC), powder, can also be used in the production of high-capacity superfine or nano-crystalline horniness alloys.
Tungsten carbide powder storage conditions –
Tungsten carbide powder dispersion and uses effects should be considered. Niobium carbide NbC Powder must be stored in vacuum bags and kept dry in a cool place. NbC powder shouldn’t be exposed to stress.
