Emulsifiers work as surfactants to reduce the liquid’s surface tension. Potassium Oleate can be found in vegetable oils, such as sunflower oil. It’s used in soapmaking for vegetable glycerin soaps. Although it is irritating in pure form it is safe to use as a binding component. The high-purity potassium oil is a powdery liquid that can be stored, packaged, transported, and used during storage. The current refinement and purification process of solid potassium oil requires the use low-temperature and compressive methods to extract water. This process has many drawbacks: it is slow, expensive, energy-intensive, time-consuming, and requires difficult preparation. The steps involved are: 1) A paste of oleic acid is combined with potassium hydroxide in water to create a potassium oil solution. Then, heat saturated urea/alcohol solution is formed after all the liquid has been dissolved. Mix the viscous potassium-oleate with the urea/alcohol solution. Continue to stir to combine the ingredients. Cool the solution to -5-0. Let the solution cool to room temperature. The potassium oleate precipitate will form.
