Copper(II) acetate monohydrate formula is a green to blue-green crystalline, hygroscopic powder that is soluble in water and alcohol at ambient temperature. When heated to decomposition, it produces acrid smoke and irritating fumes. It can be prepared in the laboratory by reacting solutions of copper(II) carbonate or copper oxide with refluxing acetic acid.

The copper(II) acetate monohydrate is used as a DNA extraction agent in biochemical applications, and as a catalyst or oxidizing agent in organic syntheses. It is also used as a mordant in textile dyeing, as a ceramic pigment, and as a fungicide.

Cupric acetate monohydrate is moderately toxic by ingestion. This Thermo Scientific Chemicals product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar portfolio. Documentation and labeling may reference the legacy brand name.
